Burkhead Art Center Policies

We understand that life brings many surprises to us all, and sometimes people must cancel their class reservation. Please help us continue to offer these wonderful classes, at the most affordable costs possible, by reading and adhering to our cancellation, refund and transfer policies. Please note that under no circumstances will the Burkhead Art Center prorate any class, camp, or workshop.
Classes are cancelled when enrollment minimums are not reached. Cancellations are determined no later than 2 business days before the class starts. Summer camp cancellations will be determined no less than 5 business days before the start of the camp. If the Art Center cancels a class, camp, workshop or Make It Take It, the student will have the option to transfer to another class, as long as space is available, or receive a 100% refund.* -
If a student chooses to withdraw from a class, camp, workshop or Make It Take It, the refund policies are as follows:
Classes & Workshops:
100% refunded with seven or more days notice prior to the start date of the class.*

No refunds will be made after the start of the 1st class.

We will use our best judgment about whether to hold class in the event of inclement weather. Closings and cancellations will be listed on our Facebook page and website home page. On days that the Burkhead ART Center is closed due to extreme weather classes, programs, events, and open studio hours at the BAC will be reviewed by the Executive Director and a decision will be made on closures and cancellations.
Burkhead ART Center will post closing information to social media and on the website to inform the public of closings and delays as soon as possible. Rescheduling or credits will be offered for single classes that are cancelled due to bad weather.

In order to provide students, members, visitors and staff with a safe and supportive educational environment, BAC has adopted a Zero Tolerance Policy. BAC reserves the right to refuse registration to any student if administration or faculty deem the student to be disruptive or dangerous. No guns, firearms or any type of dangerous materials may be brought into BAC.
This policy includes the attempted, threatened, or actual conduct done by a person that causes or is likely to cause injury to another student, member, visitor, faculty, or staff member. It includes:
Physical assaults
Threats or intimidation
Discriminatory behavior
Bullying or abuse
Gestures of a violent or inappropriate nature
Any other behavior that might reasonably give a student cause for fear or create a hostile environment.
Acts of this nature will not be tolerated and will be responded to with the immediate removal of the person from BAC. BAC reserves the right to refuse future registrations to any student if administration or faculty deem the student to be disruptive or dangerous. BAC has a Zero Tolerance Policy to ensure the security and creative freedom for all.

Membership contributions help support Burkhead Art Center operations, exhibitions, scholarships and programming. Please note that memberships are required for Open Studio use when not enrolled in a class. Membership is not required to participate in adult and youth classes or workshops; however, all members receive a discounted tuition rate. Memberships are non-refundable and good for one year from the date of purchase.

Building Entry--Let’s all be safe
In order to maintain social distancing, class, open studio, and workshop times will be staggered to the best of our ability to prevent too many people from arriving at one time. Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before or after scheduled class time. The total number of people allowed in the building at one time will be limited.
Social Distancing, PPE, and General Policies:
If you are sick, please stay home
Follow the markers to stay 6 feet away from everyone in the building
All students, faculty, and staff must wear facemasks at all times when in our facilities and on the premises.
Face Masks must be worn at all times: this is non-negotiable. Face masks required at all times indoors, and masks must cover your mouth and nose
No eating in classes or in the building
Please bring your own water
Please sanitize and wash your hands frequently
Classrooms will be set up for you prior to you entering the room. Please remain in your area. If you need to move from your designated space please inform the teacher in order to maintain social distancing.
Cleaning--We are doing our best
Staying healthy is everyone’s job. Burkhead ART Center is following a scheduled cleaning protocol throughout the day but all students, teachers, and staff are requested to consistently clean any surface they contact during their sessions.
Classrooms will be sanitized between each class, workshop, or open studio session.
We are suggesting that students do not share tools whenever possible. Shared tools must be wiped down with a sanitizing solution, sanitizing wipes, or soap and water.
Hand sanitizer can be found in each classroom and around the building.
Wash your hands often.
Doors to classrooms will remain open to support air circulation
GENERAL HEALTH AND SAFETY – IT JUST MAKES SENSE
Disinfecting wipes will be available in all the bathrooms. Please use a paper towel or disinfecting wipe to open the bathroom doors and avoid the bare-hand touch of common surfaces
If you have symptoms, stay home.
If you are exposed to COVID-19, you must either quarantine for two-weeks OR take a COVID-19 test 3 days after exposure and receive a negative COVID-19 test result.
If a student is diagnosed with COVID-19 and has been participating in a class at BAC please contact Melinda Burkhead, Executive Director at info@burkheadartcenter.com. This will allow us to take the necessary steps to inform anyone they may have come in contact with and sanitize according to CDC guidelines.
Students who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 may not return to BAC until they have received a negative COVID-19 test result.
If a teacher has been exposed to COVID-19 they must quarantine for 14 days and receive a negative COVID-19 test result. Classes will either be postponed or cancelled and students will be notified. Credits for any missed classes will be placed on students accounts for use towards a future class.
BAC reserves the right to do spot temperature checks of anyone entering the building
If you refuse to follow any of the above items, you will be asked to leave the premises and no refund or credit for unused class time will be available.
I have read, understood, and will comply with the conditions and protocols listed in this document. Furthermore, I agree to hold harmless The Burkhead ART Center, its faculty, staff, volunteers, owners, or anyone connected to it, for any possible exposure to COVID-19 that might occur as a result of my participation in any programs I voluntarily attend.*
When registering for a class you will be required to agree and sign the above document before you can checkout and attend a class.
-
Every class or workshop has a minimum number of students needed to run. Should a class or workshop not fill sufficiently, we may cancel it prior to the first class session. If a class or workshop you have signed up for is cancelled, you will receive notification and have the option to transfer to another class or be issued a full refund.
